A PRAYER FOR PEACE IN UKRAINE
Heavenly Father, Your Son taught us “Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called Children of God.”
In this time of great worry, we fervently pray that Your Holy Spirit sustain all the people of Ukraine to be vigilant and dedicated to peace and justice. Grant their leaders wisdom and prudence.
Yet, may they also have the strength and perseverance to defend their land from all adversity and foreign attacks. Help us all to live according to your Divine Will.
O God, our Father, in the days to come, we beseech you to comfort the suffering, heal the wounded, and accept the souls of the faithful departed into Your Heavenly Kingdom.
We ask also that the Most Holy Mother of God extend her blessed mantle of protection over our Ukraine.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Catholic Relief Services
There is a great risk of additional suffering both within Ukraine and for those who are fleeing to neighboring countries for safety. CRS and their partners need immediate support to meet both ongoing needs as the situation intensifies. Years of conflict along the eastern border have already displaced 1.3 million people from their homes and claimed 14,000 lives and now 2 million people have fled Ukraine. Throughout this time, Caritas Ukraine, with support from CRS, has been providing emergency relief and recovery.
Sovereign Order of Malta - Federal Association, U.S.A.
The Order of Malta is mobilizing extensive resources to support the Ukrainian refugees as intense fighting is continuing in many cities across the country. 12 million people are in desperate need of help of whom 4.3 million are internally displaced persons. 4 million conflict-affected people are expected to cross into neighboring countries. Together with the relief services of the Order of Malta in Ukraine and in the neighboring countries, Malteser International – the Order of Malta’s worldwide relief agency – is providing food, shelter, and medical assistance to people displaced by the continuing military operations in the country. Thousands of volunteers of the Order of Malta are working tirelessly to provide help and assistance.
Samaritan's Purse is in the process of setting up an Emergency Field Hospital on the outskirts of Lviv, in western Ukraine. Their DC-8 cargo plane airlifted the initial phase of the hospital on March 4 along with Disaster Assistance Response Team members—including doctors, nurses, logistics and other personnel. After landing in Poland, the team and equipment were transported overland into the war-torn nation of Ukraine. An additional DC-8 flight on March 8 brought more materials for the hospital. Samaritan's Purse has additional disaster response specialists on the ground in Poland, Romania, and Moldova, and we plan to send a smaller medical clinic bound for Moldova on an additional flight this week.
