This year the feast of the Immaculate Conception falls on a Sunday. The Second Sunday of Advent will be observed so observance of Our Lady's feast day will be on Monday, December 9. Since the holy day is not one of obligation, the only Mass celebrated will be at the usual daily Mass time of 7 a.m.

Winter Emergency Shelter Volunteer Sign Up

The WE shelter for Women will be housed at the NEW YWCA located at 1807 East Wendover Avenue between Highway 29 and English Street. The shelter will house 20 women residents from December 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014.
St. Paul and Apostle and St. Pius X Catholic Churches are working together to provide volunteer coverage every THURSDAY evening the shelter is open. Volunteer activities include the following:
Greeter, 5:30-7:30 pm, Hospitality, 5:30 pm-9:30 pm, Meal Provider/Server, 6:15 pm - 7:00 pm, Breakfast Bag Provider, before 8:00 pm.
There are no overnight host volunteer positions available due to YWCA staff members taking this obligation.
Volunteers will be trained when they arrive for duties and the rules of the WE Shelter will be communicated. The Winter Emergency Shelters are an extension of Greensboro Urban Ministry and exist because volunteers care about the health and safety of all members of our community.
